Meet the Team:
Pip Parry

October 25, 2024

In the year since we launched Mirror Monthly on LinkedIn, we’ve spoken in depth about the work we do to help brands increase customer awareness, drive sales, and boost revenue across retail, convenience, wholesale, and foodservice channels.

But Mirror would be nothing without the people behind the brand – the ones who make it all happen for our customers!

Over the next few months, we’ll be shining a spotlight on each member of our senior management team, giving you a glimpse into who they are and what they do, with some fun and lesser-known facts thrown in for good measure!

To kick things off, we’re starting with me, Pip Parry — Sales Director at Mirror. I’m excited to share a bit about my role, my journey, and what motivates me in the fast-paced, ever-changing world of field marketing.

First of all, Describe Yourself in Three Words:

Funny, Vivacious & Caring

And What About Mirror?

Innovative, Passionate & Flexible

How Did you Start your Career in Field Marketing?

I was looking for a change in career having run a ski company & a sailing/powerboat hospitality business, and was fascinated when I met the Director of Mirror – Sophia Webber. At the time, I really didn’t know what Field Marketing was, but I knew it wasn’t marketing fields!

When I understood that it was supporting brands with the end goal of driving sales and getting more people to notice them, I thought, “really – I thought the retailer did all of that?” Well that’s just the point! If they did, I wouldn’t be in a job!

I am pretty confident in my interpersonal and sales skills so wanted to give it a try and I haven’t looked back. I absolutely love my job and talking to all of the different people from different brands makes it super interesting, and I enjoy challenging myself with how we can go that one step better and think outside the box.

What’s your Favourite Thing About Working at Mirror?

Working with some of the best brains in the business! I love the fact that I engage with so many different types of brands and I can see the positive impact of my work on their campaigns! It’s an amazing place to work.

Are There Any Upcoming Trends/Societal Changes you See Shaping the Future of Field Marketing?

The industry has already seen a big change since the COVID-19 pandemic. I always ask the question, “what will the retail landscape look like in 10 yrs to come?”

Will mainstream retailers become more sophisticated, and more automated? Will we see reduced footfall in our stores as we have more direct deliveries? Or will we still shop with our hands and eyes? Who knows!

Digitisation is taking over – digital pricing will take over from the old fashioned paper SEL.

Whilst online is popular – as consumers we like to taste/touch and see products – so I think there will always be a place for sampling!

Can you Share a Memorable Success Story from your Time in the Industry?

It’s hard to share just one story, but being in sales, I always talk about persistence and keeping going. If you target enough, one will strike. It’s about sending that email or phoning that person at the right time.

I recall my very first win with Mirror – a biscuit company called Patterson Arran. In the day, most prospecting was done on the telephone (when people worked in the office and you could call reception! How things have changed!).

I phoned the brand and spoke with a lovely gentleman. As luck would have it, he said you must have a crystal ball – yes we do need your services. They had 200 FSDUs to be walked in and go up in Morrisons and invited us to quote! Happy days… The first of many over the years!

What’s your Favourite Way to Unwind After a Busy Week?

A nice long dog walk along the beach or cooking up a great meal with a top-class bottle of red and watching a great film on Netflix.

If you Could Have Dinner With Any Three People (Dead or Alive), Who Would They Be and Why?

My Mum & Dad – sadly passed – how great it would be to sit around a table and say thank you to them for the person I am now.

Tom Cruise – my secret crush! I love all of his movies and have a lot of admiration for him. I think he would be a fun and interesting celeb to have dinner with!

Tom Jones – the man has so much history and charisma! Just think of all the tales he has and the people he has met!

And Finally, What’s One Thing you Can’t Live Without?

As bad as it sounds, it’s got to be my phone!
